Jan 23 - 24, 2006 Eastern Shore, Maryland Jon & Mike Tettambel Goose Hunt
On January 23 we went out for a combo hunt in the rain- meaning we were going for Snow Geese and Canadian Geese. Despite seeing hundreds of geese, only one solo snow goose came into our decoy spread and Jon nailed him with a single shot. Unfortunately that was the only shot of the day. On day 2 we had a lot more sun and a lot more geese. We easily saw a few thousand geese with many coming to check our spread but not wanting to commit to landing. We passed on 2 that came within 15 yards of us in hopes that their 7 friends would join them. The 7 flared off and the other two swiftly followed without a shot from us. About 20 minutes later another group of 6 came in. As soon as we heard "take 'em" Mike dropped a big Canada and despite Jon emptying the gun on the others they were only tickled as a few feathers fell to the ground.
